ABOUT THE PAINTINGS

Finest Artist Quality paints have been used for all paintings.

Paintings are on good quality watercolour-paper. The thickness or weight of the paper used for a painting is indicated in the description. The heavier the weight then the thicker the paper. 90grms is thinner paper than 300grms which is firmer.

Due to the digital processing, colours on your monitor may not be a true representaion of the colours in the painting. However, the difference is slight.

All paintings are signed by the artist.

PAINTING SIZES

Generally, the paintings come in three aproximate paper sizes.

            SMALL    (17.5 x 25cm / 7x10 inches)

            MEDIUM  (24 x 32cm /  9x12 inches)

            LARGE     (28 x 38cm / 11x14 inches).

PLEASE CHECK the size of a painting before purchasing. The image shown on your pc monitor is not the true size, although it is correct in proportion.

A plain border is left around each painting, which means the size of the picture is always smaller than the paper it is on. The paper size is given in each description because a frame must be large enough to accomodate it, and it is the frame size that occupies the wall space.

Some paintings may be painted up to the edge of the paper, but in this case an allowance will be made as a border.

If there is a great difference between the picture size and the paper size, such as in a wide or a long picture, this will be indicated in the description.

A cardboard mount can be cut to fit the actual picture size.

FRAMING

Frame your painting under glass as soon as possible after receiving it. An unprotected watercolour-painting is easily damaged.

Your painting will also need a carboard mount around it to lift it off the glass and for a better appearance. A professional picture-framer will include this with the framing.

Unless you are able to frame the painting yourself or are using a ready made frame, then a profesional picture-framer is recommeded.

Hang your framed painting at a comfortable eye level or above eye level. If you prefer your painting to tilt forward then position the holding hooks at an equal level down the sides of the frame, about less than half way. The further down the hooks are then the greater the forward tilt of the frame.

ALL the paintings from WATERCOLOUR WINDOW are supplied UNFRAMED. This is to minimize the cost of postage and allow the buyer to choose their own style of frame.

TAKING CARE OF YOUR PAINTING

A watercolour-painting is a delicate object and must be handled with care.

Always handle an unframed watercolour-painting by the edges.

Do not touch the painted area.

Never wet a watercolour-painting or hang it in a moist atmosphere as this can damage a painting beyond repair.

Protect under glass in a proper frame.

Do not hang the painting in direct sunlight as this will cause discolouration of the picture.

Some colours will look different under artificial light than in daylight. This is unavoidable but should not spoil your enjoyment of the painting.
